This week's assignment was to create two collages: one with muted colors in a variety of values, and one in muted colors with similar values.
I swapped the newsprint for cheap watercolor and used thicker gouache, and created much nicer color washes.
The "similar value" piece was a challenge, like last time. To my eye, the green circle and blue rectangle look lighter than the other elements. But a desaturated version of the collage reveals that they're the same. I suppose this is because they're less saturated than the pink and orange
I rushed to create the background for this collage and accidentally made it a shade too dark. As a result, the lighter elements seem to float off the page. Unintended, but interesting.
